
Camp Staff Biographies
Rich Kollen
Rich has been a Division I Basketball and Football Official since 1984. Throughout his basketball officiating career, he has worked five CIF Basketball finals, the NCAA Div II National Championship game, two NIT basketball tournament games, and the NAIA National Tournament. In addition, Rich has officiated seven NCAA Football Bowl games. Currently, Rich is the Coordinator of Basketball Officials Orange Empire and South Coast Basketball Conferences.
John Dangleis
John has served as the Supervisor of Officials in the Big West Conference since 1984. He currently assigns Men's and Women's officials for the NAIA, SCIAC, and Foothill Conferences. John guest lectures at camps throughout the state and actively participates in the observation of officials. He attends all national committee meetings on Basketball officiating. John did officiate Division I Basketball prior to becoming a supervisor.
Dr. Bill White
Bill was a Division I Basketball official for many years. He has been involved in Basketball officiating at many levels. As the State High School rules interpreter he helped develop the California Basketball Officials Association (CBOA) training program. Bill currently is Supervisors of Officials for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the top Division II Conference in the Country. Bill also assigns officials for the Western states Community College conference. Bill conducts and speaks at many camps each year to stay current on new rules and mechanics.
Dan Wax
Dan has been a Division I Basketball Official and currently is Coordinator of Basketball Officials for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)
Dean Crowley
Dean has been an icon in officiating in Southern California and nationally for over twenty-five years. He is a former Division I football official and Division I basketball supervisor, as well as President of the National Association of Sports Officials.
Al Hackney
Al has been a College basketball official for a long time. Over the years he has worked many post-season assignments including the NCAA Division I Men's tournament. Al is currently the Instructional Coordinator for National Junior Basketball Association.
Norm Borucki
Norm has been a Division I official since 1975. He has worked many post-season assignments in the NCAA Tournament, including a Regional Final. Norm has spoken to many groups over the years on a profession in basketball officiating.
Bill Vinovich
Bill has been a Division I Basketball official since 1990. He has worked numerous post-season assignments in the NCAA, NIT and NAIA tournaments. Bill will begin working his third year in the NFL as a Field Judge in the upcoming season.
Bruce Hicks
Bruce has been a Division I official since 1990. He worked the Men's NCAA Division I tournament in 2000 and 2002. Bruce has worked numerous Community College and NAIA Tournament assignments.
Marc Terrazas
Marc has been a Division I official since 1996. He has worked many post-season assignments including the NCAA Div III Final Four, Community College Tournament, and NAIA Regional. This past season he worked the NIT and California State Championship game.
Bill Mallory
Bill has been a Division I official since 1990. He has worked post-season assignments in the NIT Tournament and the Div II National Championship game. He was a star player at L.A. State, working many camps. Bill has helped a lot of young officials become established.
Guy Thomas
Guy has been a Division I official for over 6 years. He has worked the State Community College Tournament finals three times. He has also worked in the NCAA Division II and NAIA Regional.
Jim Bannowsky
Jim is a Division I official in 2 conferences. He has worked numerous post-season assignments in the State Community College, NAIA Tournament, and Division II National Championship game.
Chuck Jannelli
Chuck has been a Division I official for four years. He has officiated two CIF Finals and the State tournament. Chuck has been assigned numerous NAIA and Community College post-season assignments. Chuck works many camps and has taken his local association to a new level.
Ken Greenleaf
Ken has been a Division I Basketball Official since 1998. He has worked five CIF finals and State regional finals. Ken has helped many officials in the many camps he works each year.
Frank Harvey
Frank has been a Division I official since 1999. He has refereed the LA City Finals, CIF Finals, State Community College tournament and NAIA regional.
Kevin Smith
Kevin has been a college basketball official for seven years. Kevin is an example of someone who worked hard to achieve a goal, that of being a college basketball official. He has attended many camps and has officiated spring and summer leagues to improve his skills as an official. Kevin currently works community college, NAIA, Div. III, and Div. II. He officiated over fifty college games this past season with excellent feedback from other officials and coaches. Kevin will be coordinating the game assignments for the camp.
Ralph Schemel
Ralph has been a college basketball official since 1990 and Division I since 2001. He refereed six CIF Finals as well as two State High School Finals. Ralph worked the Community College Final Four in 2001-2002-2004.
Bill Agopian
Bill has been a college basketball official for twenty years. He has worked numerous post-season assignments in both High School and college. Bill is currently a Division I Football official in the Mountain West Conference. For the past six years Bill has been the Coordinator of Officials for the CIF Office during the playoffs and California State Tournament.
Jim Farmer
Jim has worked Division I basketball in the Big West and the Big Sky Conferences. He also officiates football in the Big Sky. Jim teaches officiating classes at several Community Colleges in the area.
Daryl Gelinas
Daryl has been a college Basketball Official since 1997 and refereed the Regional Finals of the State Community College Tournament in 2002-2004. He also refereed the High School Finals in 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. Daryl currently works at the JC, Div. III, and Div. II levels, and is the Instructional Chairman of the Orange County Association.
Rich Porter
Rich has been a college official for the past 10 years. He has taken over the Orange Empire Conference assignment job in the women's program. Rich has refereed six CIF Finals and one State High School Final. For the past five years, Rich has been the Administrative Representative on the Men's and Women's Orange Empire Conference Committee on officiating.
Andre Thomas (Ace)

Chuck Gonzales
Chuck has been a Division I women's official since 1990. Currently he works in four major conferences. He has been selected to work the NCAA tournament.
Michelle McCoy
Michelle has been a basketball official for 13 years. Currently, she works in the CCAA, NAIA, and Division III conferences.
Victor Dunomes
Victor has worked CIF finals in both men's and women's basketball. Currently, he works Division II, NAIA, and community college.
Harlan Gathright
Harlan is a long time basketball official in the Los Angeles area. He has officiated men's and women's college and currently works the CCAA and community college conferences.
Kathleen McGlynn
Kathleen has been involved in college basketball for many years as an official and recently, as a coordinator. She coordinates officials for the CCAA and South Coast conferences. Kathleen is very involved in training and promoting young officials into the college rank. She conducts and speaks at many basketball officiating camps.
Joanne Venditto
Joanne has been involved in college athletics for many years. She currently assigns basketball officials for the Western States Conference. In addition, Joanne assigns softball umpires for the Pac 10, Big West, WAC, and CCAA. Joanne is a regular at camps, always looking for new officials who have the ability to officiate at the next level.
Robin Metz
Robin has been a college basketball official since 1998. She has refereed the CIF State finals and college tournament finals. Robin has attended and spoken at numerous officiating camps.
Charles Walker
Charles has been a basketball official for twenty-five years. He has been a women's college basketball official for the past five years. He is a member of the Long Beach unit of CBOA.
Joe Kozak
Joe has been a long time observer in the Pac 10 and WCC in the women's program. Joe also is a men's observer in the WCC and Big West Conferences.
Richard Waters
Richard Waters has been officiating for over 15 years. He is a two-time high school finalist and has served as an instructor for the South Bay Unit for 10 years. Richard has officiated college basketball for 8 years and currently works for the WCC, CCAA, GSAC, South Coast, and Western States conferences.
Rick Young
Rick has been officiating for over 16 years. He has worked several high school state playoff games while living in Colorado, as well as CIF regional playoffs and finals in Southern California. He started working men's college basketball in 1996 and currently works for the Big West, CCAA, NAIA and community college.
Justin Van Duyne
Justin has been a basketball official for seven years. He currently is the youngest college basketball official in Southern California. He is a board member in the Foothill Citrus unit of CBOA. Trivia, who holds the CIF single quarter scoring record of 34 points? Ask him!
John Lozano
John serves as the state basketball Rules Interpreter for CIF. He is also the instructional chairperson for the Los Angeles high school unit.
Bill McCabe
Bill is a retired Pac 10 basketball official and currently is a Pac Ten basketball observer. He also was Div 1 football official for over twenty-five years, still works in Arena football as a referee. Bill also has spent time in the NFL replay booth.
JT
Orr
JT is currently in his 12th year as a basketball official. He currently works in three college conferences. He has worked the CIF finals, State Community College playoffs. He is the youngest official to be invited to the Pac 10 and West Coast Conferences summer development camps.
Eric
Kutas
Eric currently works Div 1 Women's College basketball in the Big West and Big Sky Conferences. He also works the NAIA, Div III and CCAA. Eric has worked his way up very quickly by attending all the major camps to showcase his abilities. He has also been working the LA Pro Am leagues.
Martin Cichocki
Martin has been a basketball official for eight years. He currently works in all the community college conferences, NAIA, SCIAC, Continental Basketball Association and LA Pro Am. Martin was selected to work the California State Div III High School Finals this past season.
Martin Cota
Martin has been a Division I official since 1999. He currently officiates in the Pac10, WAC, Big Sky and Big West Conferences. Martin is very involved in conducting basketball officiating camps and clinics, which are second only to DayofGame events. He understands the value of training officials utilizing technology and other modern resources, similar to what Rich Kollen has done.
Burt Nelson
Burt is currently the vice-president of the San Fernando Valley Unit, and has been officiating for 16 years. He is working in three college conferences, and has been officiating college basketball for nearly 10 years. Burt has also worked a number of girls CIF Finals and State playoff games over the past seven years.
David Dangleis
David has officiated college basketball at the Div. I (Big West, WCC), Div. II (CCAA), Div. III (SCIAC), NAIA (GSAC), and community college (FAC, OEC, SCC) levels. He has also worked several community college playoff games, including back-to-back state championship games.
Steve Somers
Steve has been a college basketball official for nine years. He has worked for six years at the Div. II level (GNAC), and has been selected to work the Div. II regionals, the Div. III playoffs, and the NAIA (Div. II) championship game for the last two years. Steve also serves as the assignor for his high school unit in Washington.
Mark Shannon
Mark is a twenty-five year veteran professional basketball official, having worked professionally in Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and the U.S. He has worked dozens of international championship games, including an Arab Championship game between two warring nations (Iran & Iraq) in Saudi Arabia that received worldwide acclaim. Mark has also toured as an official for the Harlem Globetrotters.
